Frequently Asked Questions

What's included to the price?

Included in the price:- fully comprehensive insurance for the first driver (subject to restrictions - see "Are there any insurance restrictions?"),
AA 5 star Breakdown cover, a bottle of camping gas, pans, kettle, crockery, cutlery and mains hook up cable.

We can also provide chairs (free of charge) and, if needed, you can hire a drive away awning with inner tent (sleeps two) and bike rack - just let us know when you book.

When do bookings start and finish?

Week and weekend bookings run from 4pm on a Friday and midweek bookings run from 4pm on a Monday. All vans are due back at 10.30am on the day of return so we can get them ready for their next outing.

We reserve the right to charge a late return fee of £25 per hour and pick-up must be before 6pm.

How do I make a booking?

Once we've agreed dates and a van we'll provisionally reserve it while you sort out a deposit of £150. This is payable by bank transfer or cheque as all payments must be traceable at the request of our insurance company.

The balance is due six weeks before your trip. At the start of the booking we also take a security deposit of £500. This will be returned at the end of your booking following an inspection of the van. Deductions for damage outside normal wear and tear, fuel, or any additional cleaning will be taken from the security deposit.

Are there any insurance restrictions?

Drivers must be 25-75, and must have held a valid British licence for 2 or more years.
Additional drivers can be added at cost of £10.00 per day (subject to the restrictions above).

As with other vehicle hire, drivers need to provide proof of ID, driving license (both parts) and current address.

Where do we collect the van?

Sudbury, Suffolk.

Where can I leave my car?

There is parking available if you would like to leave your car whilst hiring a van. (Strictly only 1 vehicle per van allowed and vehicles are left at your own risk)

Is fuel included?

The vans are hired with a full tank of unleaded fuel and should be returned with a full tank of fuel.
There are a number of petrol stations close by.

If the van is returned without a full tank of fuel we reserve the right to charge £25 plus the cost of fuel. This will be deducted from the security deposit and a receipt will be provided.

Where can we go in the vans?

Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. Mileage limit 100 per day. Should you want to go further afield and think you might go over the mileage limits then talk to us and we'll see what we can be arranged but with a top speed of about 50mph it's best to plan a leisurely trip!

The mileage limit is 100 miles a day, and you will be charged £5.00 per every 10 miles over. This will be deducted from the security deposit.

What do I need to bring?

You'll need to bring your clothes (small soft bags work better than rigid suitcases) and food for you holiday. You'll also need to bring bedding, pillows and towels. The Rock and roll bed is 110cm wide, so sleeping bags are recommended. For the beds in the pop tops we'd recommend sleeping bags. The campervans have internal lights but we'd also advise bringing a torch or lantern.

What happens if the van breaks down?

We keep the vans maintained to the highest standard but in the unlikely event of a breakdown AA 5 star cover is included in the rental price. The AA will do everything they can to get you going again but if they are unable to repair the van they will bring you back to our base. If possible (subject to availability) we will try to supply a replacement vehicle, or failing that we'll refund the remainder of your hire period.

Are the vans easy to drive?

Driving a 40 year old classic VW campervan is a bit different to a regular car and, of course, performance and braking are not the same as a modern vehicle. But, because you are higher up the view is great, the gears are easy to use and once you get used to the length they are easy to manoeuvre. All our vans drive well and after ten minutes at the wheel you'll be ready to enjoy the experience!

Can we bring our bikes?

We have a rear mounted bike rack available - let us know if you'd like it and we'll fit it to the van before you arrive.

Do you provide an awning?

Yes. Take a look at our All Inclusive rental details.

Do we need any other insurance?

The insurance provided relates to the vehicle and does not cover you for loss, damage or theft of your possessions - so we recommend, as with any holiday, that you take holiday or travel insurance to cover this. Holiday or travel insurance can also provide cover should you need to cancel your booking.

How is the stove fuelled?

The stove and heating are fuelled LPG bottle. This is included in the hire charge. We try to make sure there is enough gas for your trip but should you run out please replace the bottle at a petrol station, camping shop or Calor Gas centre and we will reimburse you the cost of a refill on your return.

Can we bring our dog?

We are happy for you to bring your dog on holiday. Please bring a blanket or towel to protect the upholstery and there is room on the floor for a dog bed. We require that your dog isn't left unattended in the campervan at anytime. Finally we charge £15 for any extra valeting required at the end of the booking.

Are the campers non-smoking?

Can you store our car?

During the period of the hire you may park your car at our premises but do so at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to your car or its contents.

Can we take the campervan abroad?

No - regretfully our vans can not be taken abroad at this stage.

Do you offer a chauffeur driven service for weddings?

Yes. Our wedding package includes a chauffeur to drive the van on your special day. From £295 - see our Weddings page for more details.
